<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce wear of a rotating body due to a separating claw by appropriately controlling the abutting pressure of the separating claw to the rotating body. <P>SOLUTION: A sheet separating apparatus includes the separating claw (101) for separating a sheet from the rotating body which transports the sheet; an energizing means (separating claw spring 104) to abut the separating claw on a surface of the rotating body by energizing the separating claw; a pressure detection means (pressure sensor unit 70) for detecting the energizing pressure of the energizing means; and a pressure adjusting means (a main body controller 200, a motor 72 and a cam 108a) for adjusting the energizing force of the energizing means, based on the detected result of the pressure detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
