PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing machine capable of sealing the top of each container even though the diameter of a sealer is smaller than the outside diameter of the container and capable of contributing to the realization of compact equipment. SOLUTION: The sealing machine comprises: a receiving jig 10 to which an item 8 can be fitted with its opening at the top; a die cutter 2 allowing the top of the item 8 attached to the receiving jig to be disposed within a hole 21, having a blade 22 formed along the edge of the hole, and set on a base 6; a strip of film 3 intermittently moved above the die cutter; an auxiliary cutter 43 disposed above the strip of film so that its underside faces the die cutter 2, having a through-hole 43b opposite the hole 21, and used to cut the strip of film 3 together with the blade 22 by moving downward and thus cut a film strip 35 off the strip of film; and the sealer 5 disposed above the strip of film 3 and opposite the opening 21, used to cover the opening 83 and heat-seals it by moving downward such that its lower part 51 enters the hole 21 and presses the film strip 35 against the top 82 of the item 8.
