PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus dealing with various arrangements while reducing the size. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a section for containing a storage medium 31a recording image data, a section 5 for forming an image based on image data recorded in the storage medium 31a onto a sheet, and a section 4 for carrying the sheet. The storage medium containing section 33 has a storage medium inserting/drawing opening 32 having an opening becoming the inlet/outlet of the contained storage medium 31a, and a planar storage medium slot 9 for connecting the contained storage medium 31a electrically with the body of the image forming apparatus, wherein the storage medium slot 9 is arranged while standing below the sheet carrying section 4.
