PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing the generation of an abnormal noise due to vibration of a recoding material pressing member while using the recoding material pressing member. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a toner image forming means which forms a toner image on the image carrier, a transfer means which transfers the toner image on the image carrier to a transfer material in a transfer region, and a planar flexible recording material pressing member which is arranged in a state where the front end is suppressed so as to be elastically brought into opposite contact with the outer peripheral surface of the recording material, and which presses the recording medium by the front end to the outer peripheral surface of the image carrier in a transfer region. The recording material pressing member is supported by a supporting member extending in the axial direction of the image carrier so as to project from the supporting member. The planar vibration damping member extending in the axial direction of the image carrier suppressing the vibration of the recording material pressing member is provided on the supporting member in such a manner that the front end of the projecting part protruding to the same direction as the recording material pressing member from the supporting member.
