<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device using an air bag in which the air bag is further secondarily deployed utilizing an internal pressure raised when an occupant collides to the air bag at collision of the vehicle and movement energy absorption effect of the occupant is enhanced by restricting another part of the occupant by the secondarily deployed air bag. <P>SOLUTION: The occupant protection device is provided with an air bag primary deployment part 10A detecting the collision of the vehicle, deployed between the occupant M and a vehicle body side member 1 and pressed between the occupant M and the vehicle body side member 1 by interference of the occupant M to raise an internal pressure; and an air bag secondary deployment part 10B deployed in a specific direction by the internal pressure of the air bag primary deployment part 10A raised by the interference of the occupant M and restricting another part Mt of the occupant M.
