PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus capable of appropriate scene change detection while reducing load on a CPU. SOLUTION: A TV application program 201 has a black expansion function for expanding and correcting the gradation of black as a function for improving image quality of video data contained in TV broadcast program data received by a TV tuner 123. The TV application program 201 measures only the change amount and area ratio of the range of a luminance signal influenced actually by this black expansion processing, and detects a scene change in which the black expansion processing can be started or released on a measurement result thereof.
