<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring/diagnosis system which can quickly and precisely diagnose a trouble of the internal combustion engine by detecting the presence of a malfunction by using the method which is predetermined taking into consideration the properties of a surface vibration sensor with respect to the performance data of surface vibrations which is detected by using the surface vibration sensor which is mounted to a particular portion of the surface of the internal combustion engine and then by totally making judgement referring to the kind of the malfunction to diagnose the point of trouble and the details of the trouble when a malfunction has been found. <P>SOLUTION: The monitoring/diagnosis system comprises the surface vibration sensor 61a which is mounted to the vibration measuring portion on the surface of the internal combustion engine, and a filtering section 62 which sequentially loads a signal of vibration wave shape on a period unit basis of one combustion cycle of the cylinder and analyzes the frequency of the data loaded on a period unit basis to determine an effective value from the analysis results. A malfunction sensor 6 detects a malfunction when the effective value is found to be out of the normal range of values by comparing the effective value which is determined by using the filtering section 62 with the normal range of value which is stored in a normal range of value data storing section 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
