PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a comparatively small-scale program video recording reservation system whereby a video recording of a program can surely be reserved by one electronic mail even when the broadcast time zone of the program duplicates with a program whose video recording has already been reserved. SOLUTION: The program video recording reservation system comprises a plurality of digital recording and reproducing apparatuses each provided with at least a data control section 3 for detecting data of electronic mail from received data; a coordinator section 15 for confirmation duplication with video recording reservation information having already been registered for the same video recording period on the basis of video recording reservation information in the data of the electronic mail, executing video recording reservation processing when no duplication exists, outputting electronic mail denoting the end of the video recording reservation processing, or selecting an electronic mail address of the other digital recording and reproducing apparatus stored in advance in an ID storage section 16 when any duplication is detected to generate electronic mail; and a video recording status storage section 6 for storing the video recording reservation information.
