PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of increasing heat conduction amount to a fixing roll by preventing the temperature fall of an endless belt in the contact area of the endless belt with the fixing roll. SOLUTION: The fixing device has a fixing member having a heating source, a pressure member press-contacting with the fixing member, and an external heating member 10 comprising the endless belt 11 stretched and laid by a plurality of rolls and a heating source for heating the roll or the endless belt, and performs fixing processing by heat and pressure by making transfer material carrying an unfixed toner image pass through the press-contact part between the fixing member and the pressure member. In the fixing device, the heating source of the external heating member is a heat supply means by radiant heat, and at least one of the heating sources is provided between the stretching and laying rolls so as to directly heat the endless belt with the radiant heat, and the heating source of the external heating member is controlled according to a result obtained from a means for detecting the temperature of the external heating member.
