PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bright-looking coating composition, bright-looking coating film and a method for forming the bright-looking coating film, wherein a bright-looking coating film having sparkling appearance can be formed at a low cost and with good workability. SOLUTION: This bright-looking coating composition comprises a bright-looking pigment containing metal flakes and transparent resin particles. The PWC (pigment weight concentration) of the bright-looking pigment is 1-20%, and the ratio of amount of the transparent resin particles to the amount of the total solid components is 5-20%. The metal flakes have a maximum diameter of 5-80μm, and a thickness of 0.01-2μm. The transparent resin particles have a maximum diameter of 1-10μm. The bright-looking coating film has a metallic coating film layer formed using such a bright-looking coating composition. It may have an undercoat coating layer and a clear coating layer.
