<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the convenience when a user performs the operation in accordance with the display in a portable information apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In a cellular telephone 100, the display 150 takes a state (portrait display) for displaying a male document of which the vertical direction is perpendicularly determined (direction indicated by both arrows A6), and a state (landscape display) for displaying the male document of which the vertical direction is horizontally determined (direction indicated by both arrows A7). In the portrait display, an upper key 121A and a lower key 121B vertically arranged have a role relating to a function of scrolling the display. These keys have a role relating to a function of switching the male displayed on the display 150. Further in the portrait display, a left key 121C and a right key 121D arranged in the lateral direction have a role relating to a function of switching the displayed male.
