PACKET RELAYING APPARATUS WITH VARIABLE POLICING CONTROL FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of averaging data amounts of packets among a plurality of confluent flows to attain impartiality in the case that the number of packet transfer flows being the number of physical bands of transmission ports or over is confluent.

SOLUTION: A packet relaying apparatus realizes a variable policing function by including: a policer section having individual policers the number of which is equal to the number of the transmission ports and applying flow count and flow limit to transfer object packets corresponding to each packet transfer flow; a switch section for switching transfer object packets corresponding to packet transfer flows respectively transferred from the policer section to an output queue section being a transfer destination; the output queue section for temporarily storing the transfer object packets from the switch section; and an output control section for outputting the transfer object packet stored in its own output queue section from its own transmission port, informing the individual policers each with a corresponding flow number of all the policer sections about a data storage amount of its own output queue section so as to dynamically apply revision control to the flow limit of each individual policer.
