PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission, having favorable torque transmission characteristic by improving the life of a rolling element in a loading cam type pressing device. SOLUTION: This toroidal type continuously variable transmission includes: an input shaft 1 to which turning force is input from an engine; an input side disk 2 connected to the input shaft 1 to be rotated in a body with the input shaft 1; and a loading cam type pressing device 12 disposed on the back of the input side disk 2 and pressing the input side disk 2 in the axial direction. The pressing device 12 has a loading cam 12a rotated with the input shaft 1; and a rolling element 12b held to freely roll between the cam face 113A of the loading cam 12a and the cam face 114A of the input side disk 2, wherein at least one of the cam face 113A of the loading cam 12a and the cam face 114A of the input side disk 2 is formed tapered to be inclined toward the radial inside in the direction of separating from the rolling surface 12b.
