PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller that can flexibly deal with requests from both an open disk system and a mainframe disk system. SOLUTION: The storage controller has a plurality of channel control parts that send and receive data to and from an information processor. Each of the plurality of channel control parts has: an input/output control part for receiving data input/output requests from the information processor and for controlling the sending and receiving of data between a data storage memory and the information processor; a processor: a data storage memory; and a data transfer device that transfers the data in the data storage memory to a cache memory. Of the plurality of channel control parts, the first channel control part has its processor manage data storage space within the data storage memory and the second channel control part has its input/output control part manage data storage space within the data storage memory.
