PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing ethyl lactate, by which the ethyl lactate capable of ensuring a quality and safety as the uses of a food and a medicine can be produced without using synthetic ethanol, while clarifying the traceability of the final product. SOLUTION: This method for producing the ethyl lactate is characterized by comprising a saccharification treatment process 3 for saccharifying field crop-originated raw materials containing starch and saccharides to obtain the treated solution, an alcohol fermentation process 4 for alcohol-fermenting a part of the treated solution obtained in the saccharification treatment process 3 to obtain the alcohol fermentation liquid, a lactic acid fermentation process 7 for lactic acid-fermenting the other part of the treated solution obtained in the saccharification treatment process 3 to obtain the lactic acid fermentation liquid, and an ethyl lactate-synthesizing process for reacting the lactic acid fermentation liquid obtained in the alcohol fermentation process 4 with the lactic acid fermentation liquid obtained in lactic acid fermentation process 7 to produce the ethyl lactate. The alcohol is removed from the fermentation lees left in the alcohol fermentation process 4, and then the fermentation lees is used in the lactic acid fermentation process 7.
