A contents data distributing method performs a storing procedure, distribution procedure, receiving procedure and conversion procedure, in order to distribute contents data to portable terminals of various models connectable to a communication network from a distribution center via the communication network. The storing procedure converts contents data into a standardized distribution format for storing in a database in the distribution center. The distribution procedure reads selected contents data from the database for distribution to portable terminals via the communication network. The receiving procedure receives the distributed contents data at portable terminals. The conversion procedure converts the format of the received contents data from the standardized distribution format into a format specific to the model of a portable terminal to enable the reproduction of the contents data. Portable terminals can exchange messages with other terminals via the communication network, and, when a specific portable terminal receives a message from another terminal, reproduces the contents data and informs the arrival of the message. <IMAGE> |
