<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation of a property in a liquid crystal element in an optical head device using a light source of which the wavelength of outgoing light is 500 nm or less. <P>SOLUTION: As the liquid crystal element 100 in the optical head device using the light source 1 of which the wavelength of outgoing light is 500 nm or less, the element is used which is constituted so as to substantially perpendicularly orient a liquid crystal to substrates 21, 21a in an initial state, and so as to be inclined to directions of the substrates, when a voltage is applied between the substrates. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
