The invention relates to a precision machining method for the inner diameters of holes in crankshafts and the machine used for same. According to the invention, one end of the crankshaft is supported by means used to rotate said crankshaft on axis Z while the other end thereof is supported by a steady rest which is disposed close to the flange. A machining unit is disposed opposite the flange on the Z axis, said unit comprising a milling head with a shaft bearing a milling cutter which can move at least longitudinally along axes (X, Z) or (Y, Z). The crankshaft is subsequently rotated at less than 50 rpm with a first shaving phase along the X or Y axis, whereby the milling cutter rotates on the axis thereof without moving longitudinally, and a second shaving phase, whereby the milling cutter rotates on the axis thereof and moves longitudinally along the Z axis. The invention is suitable for machine tools. |
