<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance cycle characteristics of a lithium secondary battery which uses electrodes having an active material layer containing silicon as a negative electrode, by depositing an amorphous silicon thin film on a current collector made of a metal, such as copper which does not alloy with lithium, by CVD method or sputtering method for example. <P>SOLUTION: Charging-discharging is repeated, in a range in which the potential of the negative electrode is 0.8 V(vs. Li/Li<SP>+</SP>) or smaller, preferably 0.7 V (vs. Li/Li<SP>+</SP>) or smaller, except for the initial charge. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
