PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document feeding device enabling a reduction in size and cost thereof by accurately detecting a document size even if a paper feed path is shortened and also reducing the number of sensors. SOLUTION: In this automatic document feeding device, a document D loaded on a document loading part 2 is delivered and carried by a resister roller 6 while being separated one by one to feed to a reading part P1 on the downstream side of a feeding path 5. The device comprises a resister sensor 22 detecting the fed document nearly on the upstream side of the resister roller 6 and a control means 25 controlling the on/off of the resister roller 6 and determining the length of the fed document D based on the signals detected by the resister sensor 22.
