PURPOSE: A system and method for converting an emoticon message is provided to extract an optimum emoticon according to a message size and message tag, couple the emoticon to a transmitting message, and transmit the emoticon to a receiver's mobile communication terminal so as to extract a shortcut key of a user from the transmitted message and convert the message into a predetermined phrase. CONSTITUTION: A message receiving unit(20) receives an SMS(short message service) of a subscriber from an SMS center(12). A subscriber authentication unit(21) checks emoticon message converting service related items and mobile communication terminal information. A message determining unit(22) recognizes that the emoticon is inserted into the message in the message substitution unit(28), parses the sentence including characters and numbers, and calculates remaining space of the SMS. An emoticon extracting unit(23) extracts the emoticon from an emoticon/SMS DB(14). A message transmitting unit(25) transmits the emoticon to the SMS center. |
