OPTICAL DISK, OPTICAL DISK PROCESSOR, AND OPTICAL DISK PROCESSING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record and reproduce data to and from disks having formats different in group configuration without changing firmware of a conventional device in an optical disk subjected to defect control. SOLUTION: The optical disk has a spare region in which a sector as substitution of a defective sector can be allocated, comprises a control data area having information for controlling recording and reproducing operation of the optical disk in a reproducible area, comprises a plurality of defect control areas having information for controlling change processing of a defective sector in a recordable and reproducible region, and performs defect control either of defect control in which the defective sector of the optical disk is changed to the sector of the spare area based on information of the defect control area for the optical disk including information indicating the head address or size of the spare area in the defect control area or defect control in which control of the defective sector is performed without using a sector of the spare area base on information of the defect control area.
