Isolated proteins comprising the T-cell surface antigen CD97 alpha are provided. Compositions and methods for making and detecting CD97 alpha are also provided. Further, the invention provides diagnostic and therapeutic methods and compositions for medical conditions involving CD97. The inventions also provides antibody compositions that bind specifically to CD97 alpha subunits.
