PURPOSE: A digital broadcast transmission/reception system and a method of processing a signal in the system are provided to improve receiving performance by including a segment synchronizing signal. CONSTITUTION: An error correction coding part(410) codes an input signal in an error correction manner. A synchronizing signal insertion part(420) inserts a segment synchronizing signal including a modified segment synchronizing signal into a coded signal. A pilot insertion part(430) inserts a pilot signal into the signal into which the synchronizing signal has been inserted. A pulse shaping filter(440) performs pulse shaping of the signal into which the pilot signal has been inserted, by using a roll-off factor. An RF(Radio Frequency) part(450) transmits the pulse shaped signal to a transmission channel band.
