PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary light projector which corrects the projection position of auxiliary light according to a position where the projector is mounted on a camera and to provide a camera system using the same. SOLUTION: The auxiliary light projector 5 projects the auxiliary light for focus detection onto an object based on the various levels of the luminance or contrast of the object and causes the auxiliary light reflected from the object to be detected by an automatic focus detecting means 17 of the camera 1. The position of the auxiliary light reflected from the object is detected by a luminance photometry section 13 of the camera 1 and the projection direction of the auxiliary light is changed based on the information on the detected auxiliary light position.
