PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acrylic fiber containing a photocatalyst, having excellent processability in the production of the acrylic fiber containing titanium oxide photocatalyst and excellent washing resistance of the fiber, exhibiting excellent utilization efficiency of the photocatalytic activity even by the use of a small amount of the photocatalyst and having excellent deodorizing effect and to provide a method for the production of the acrylic fiber. SOLUTION: The acrylic fiber containing a photocatalyst contains >10 mass% photocatalyst composed of anatase titanium oxide composite containing silicon dioxide in the sheath part of an acrylic fiber having a sheath-core structure.
