PURPOSE: A cutting insert for turning a lathe and milling is provided to improve cutting efficiency by forming the inclined face and the contact face around the cutting blade and varying the dimension and the angle of the cutting insert. CONSTITUTION: A cutting insert is composed of two or more main faces(2) having polygonal contours and arranged in parallel, and plural side faces(3,4) connecting the parallel main faces. A cutting blade(5) is formed in the connection part of the side and the main face, and the main face is structuralized around the cutting blade with the predetermined profile. The inclined face is formed in the side, and an upper divergent part(21) is formed in the main face for forming the cutting blade with the inclined face. The contact face is formed in the side or the main face, and the separated from the inclined face. |
