PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter device and a communication system which allow the ISDN and the Internet to be selected to call with less expenses and a shorter construction period. SOLUTION: An adapter device (40) is provided with a first storage means wherein communication destination information relating to communication destinations to be communicated with by using the Internet is stored, and sets a communication route of each communicating communication device, which is connected to a cable for ISDN signal (10a), to the side of an ISDN line (10b) or the side of an access line (12) on the basis of communication destination information. The adapter device (40) converts an information format of first communication information (Fout1) outputted to the cable for ISDN signal, an information format of second communication information (Fout2) outputted to the ISDN line, and information format of third communication information (Fout3) outputted to the access line in accordance with respective lines.
