In a window in which the sash 2 is lifted or dropped in the opening or closing operation with respect to the fixed frame 1, and in which the lifting mechanism comprises two parts, one of which is secured to the sash and the other to the frame, and the hinges comprise a hinge pin on one part movable relatively to a sleeve 6 on the other part, all the fittings have locating pins or pegs 12, 13 which are received in suitably positioned locating bores in the sash and main frame, and the distance between any pin, say 12 on the part secured to the frame and a specified pin 13 on the part secured to the sash is the same for all fittings so that the relative spacings of locating holes for the fittings in the frame are the same as in the sash and the necessity of having to adjust the spacings between the drilling bits of a multi-bit drill for the different fittings is avoided. |
