PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make reducible a current stress applied to a control switch and to make savable the expenditure needed for an energy recovery apparatus. SOLUTION: The energy recovery apparatus for plasma display panel is equipped with: a 2nd controlling switch and a 1st controlling switch which are connected between a panel capacitor and a power supply part; and a transformer connected between the 1st and 2nd controlling switches and a panel capacitor. The 2nd controlling switch is switched with a control signal inputted from outside to control energy recovery from the panel capacitor to the power supply part, and the 1st controlling switch is switched with a control signal inputted from outside to supply energy recovered at the power supply part to the panel capacitor. In the transformer, a resonance current flows to a primary side inductor through the switching of the 1st and 2nd controlling switch and an induced current induced at a secondary side inductor with the resonance current is made to flow through the 1st and 2nd controlling switches to a direction compensating the resonance current.
