FIELD: laser engineering; iodine-gas lasers. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed method depends on iodine evaporation and mixing of its vapors with hot gas as carrier. Prior to mixing iodine vapors are separated from evaporation surface, additionally heated, and then they are injected at controlled flowrate into carrier gas flow. Carrier gas is additionally accelerated in shaped nozzle prior to mixing with iodine vapors. Apparatus implementing this method has heating chamber holding crystal iodine, carrier gas source, and its heating device. It is provided with device for mixing iodine vapors with carrier gas and additional heating chamber whose inlet communicates with main chamber through bypass and outlet communicates with mixing device through shut-off device. Mixing device can be made in the form of coaxially arranged shaped nozzles for feeding iodine vapors and carrier gas. Its chambers can be made of low-carbon steel and their inner surfaces can be covered with glass enamel resistant to halide-containing media. ^ EFFECT: enhanced reliability, reduced maintenance charges for producing and using iodine containing gas. ^ 5 cl, 2 dwg |
