PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to predict temperature distributions in the length direction of a sintering machine by using the respective histories of past state changes in the respective positions of a plurality of wind boxes. SOLUTION: In the method for predicting the temperature distributions in the wind boxes 7 in the length direction of the sintering machine 1, the following steps (a) to (d) are successively performed: (a) a step of selecting the respective positions of the plurality of wind boxes each having a maximum temperature in the temperature distribution of current time and a predetermined temperature set up on the basis of the maximum temperature; (b) a step of computing a predicted maximum temperature after a predetermined time by using a history of past state changes in the position of the selected wind box; (c) a step of computing a predicted predetermined temperature after the predetermined time on the basis of the predicted maximum temperature; and (d) a step of computing the position of the wind box corresponding to the predicted maximum temperature and the predicted predetermined temperature.
