PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling a picture of a projection TV are provided to automatically control a picture size into an optimum size in a PC input mode. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling a picture of a projection TV includes a screen sensors(51,52,53,54), a controller(90), and a memory(80). The screen sensors sense the position and size of a picture displayed on the screen(40) of the projection TV. The controller varies position and size register values of a video processor(10) of the projection TV such that the position and size of the picture, sensed by the sensor, are suitable for an effective picture of the screen in a PC input mode. The memory stores the position and size register values of the video processor, which are varied under the control of the controller.
