PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system which reduces troublesomeness in the acquisition and input of information necessary for downloading by allowing a mobile terminal to perform required operation by using a program downloaded to the mobile terminal through a communication network. SOLUTION: The information providing system for providing an application program for allowing a mobile terminal to perform required operation through the communication network comprises: a site having the application program; a mobile terminal having an internal storage means for writing the application program and application data and performing communication utilizing the communication network; and an external storage device detachably connected to the mobile terminal and having a communication means for transmitting/receiving signals to/from the mobile terminal.
