PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform condenser vacuum control solely by automatic operation and to obtain a highly accurate degree of vacuum. SOLUTION: This air cooled condenser is equipped with a tube bundle 27 for heat exchange, a plurality of blowers 31 supplying air for cooling, and a vacuum control device 33 for controlling the vacuum degree of condenser. The vacuum control device 33 is equipped with a vacuum detector detecting the degree of vacuum by an exhaust steam line 24, an atmospheric pressure compensation means 35 determining the actual vacuum by compensating the detected signal for atmospheric pressure, a required-vacuum indicating means 36 outputting required-vacuum indicating signals set along the optimum points of condenser vacuum which vary according to the operating condition of a steam turbine 22, an air quantity control value calculating means 37 determining the control values of the air quantity to be supplied by the blowers 31, with actual vacuum signals and required-vacuum indicating signals as the elements, and a supplied air quantity control means 38 controlling the air quantity supplied from the plurality of blowers based on the air quantity control values.
