PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a mesoporous metal as a porous material which has a meso(porous) structure high in systematicness/regularlity, and has a high specific surface area. SOLUTION: A metal ion source and an amine borane based reducing agent are added to a lyotropic liquid crystal phase, so that metal is precipitated around the lyotropic liquid crystals, and the lyotropic liquid crystals are removed.
