PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method for eliminating and recovering nitrogen efficiently from drainage containing highly concentrated ammonium nitrogen, such as returned sludge disposal drainage from a sewage disposal plant or human waste disposal plant, various industrial drainage, or the like. SOLUTION: According to the method for eliminating ammonium nitrogen from drainage, particles given by heating magnesium ammonium phosphate particles for not more than 4 hours at a temperature of 70 to 90°C are made to come in contact with the drainage containing ammonium nitrogen. As a result, the ammonium nitrogen is absorbed by the given particles, after which the particles are separated from the above drainage. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
