PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for producing an aliphatic aldehyde with high selectivity at normal temperature under atmospheric pressure. SOLUTION: An epoxy compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein, R<SB>1</SB>denotes a 4-11C alkyl group or a 4-11C alkenyl group; and R<SB>2</SB>denotes a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl group) is subjected to an isomerization reaction in the presence of H-Y type zeolite and 1,4-dioxane.
