PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for an automobile accomplishing the simplification of a damper driving mechanism while enhancing a freedom on a design of a damper in a ventilation passage and responding a requirement for a small size of the device. SOLUTION: In the air conditioner for an automobile, recess/projection extending in a width direction is regularly formed in the longitudinal direction on at least one surface and a plate-like member having flexibility in the longitudinal direction is movably provided in the longitudinal direction in order to control a ventilation route. The driving mechanism of the plate-like member has a gear engaged at at least the recess/projection; a driving shaft integrally rotatable with the gear; a pulley provided at the end of the driving shaft; and a driving wire for transmitting a driving force to the pulley.
