The invention concerns a method for making a thermally protective coating fo r a propulsive unit structure, consisting in: continuously measuring and mixin g (14) at least one polyurethane with a mixture of polymerizing agents wherein have been previously dispersed specific fillers; coating one rotating cylindrical support surface (2) with continuous casting of a sliver (18) in adjacent turns of the mixture thus obtained; and pre-polymerizing at ambient pressure the resulting coating such that the polyurethane is sufficiently polymerized to be mechanically stressed.
