A hydraulically driven vehicle comprising a hydraulic pump (11), a variable displacement traveling hydraulic motor (5) being driven with pressure oil from the hydraulic pump (11), motor displacement control means (17, 18) for altering the displacement of the hydraulic motor (5) depending on the driving pressure thereof, an operating member (22) for commanding forward travel and reverse travel of the vehicle, means (12) for controlling the flow of pressure oil from the hydraulic pump (11) to the hydraulic motor (5), means (41A, 41B) for detecting operation of the operating member (22) to the side reverse to the advancing direction of the vehicle, and means (25A, 25B) operating to prevent the generation of cavitation of the hydraulic motor (5) when reverse operation of the operating member (22) is detected by the reverse operation detecting means (41A, 41B).
