METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR WIREDRAWING MAGNESIUM BASED ALLOY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for wiredrawing a magnesium based alloy by which a magnesium based alloy wire excellent in strength and toughness is obtained. SOLUTION: The method for wiredrawing the magnesium based alloy is provided in which the wiredrawing having a plurality of passes is performed by continuously threading the material to be worked of the magnesium based alloy through a plurality of dies. The material to be worked contains, by weight, 0.1-12.0% Al. The wiredrawing is performed after heating the material 20 to be worked with a heating means 11 on the upstream side of each die 13. It is preferable that the heating temperature is 150-350°C. It is preferable to install a cooling means 12 between the heating means 11 and the die 13. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
