PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage to the ends of a metal sleeve and increase the speed and prolong the life of the sleeve, in a surf-fixing device using the metal sleeve for a fixing film as a heating member. SOLUTION: A fixing device which fixes a sensible image on a recording medium P under heat and pressure comprises: a heating element 11 which heats the sensible image; a pressure member 20 which makes the recording medium P adhere to the heating element 11 via the flexible metal sleeve 13; and a thrust regulating member 150 which regulates movement of the metal sleeve 13 in the direction of thrust. The thrust regulating member 150 includes a fixing flange 15 which abuts on the outer circumferential face of the each end of the metal sleeve 13 so that the end of the metal sleeve is prevented from bulging in the direction of its external circumference. A taper or roundness is provided in an area of the fixing flange 15, on which the outer circumferential face of the each end of the sleeve 13 abuts. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
