PURPOSE: An inverter circuit having a dimming function is provided to reduce the beat sound by controlling a rising characteristic and a falling characteristic of a starting current and restricting an abrupt current change generated from an input winding. CONSTITUTION: An inverter circuit includes a step-up transformer(7) for supplying a DC current to an input winding(4) and outputting an alternating voltage from an output winding(5) by interrupting the current of the input winding by a switching element. The inverter circuit further includes a changing unit which changes intermittently an output voltage level of the step-up transformer by controlling an on/off time of the switching element according to a starting current for actuating the switching element. The inverter circuit further includes a control unit for controlling a rising characteristic and a falling characteristic of the starting current.
