PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat generating device for keeping a metal can warm which can prevent steep decrease in temperature of content of the metal can and maintains it in a temperature range suitable for drinking and eating for a long time and has simple configuration and is further produced at a lower cost, and also to provide a metal can using the same. SOLUTION: The heat generating device for keeping warm is used to be attached to the metal can to be heated above 40°C. The heat generating device for keeping warm starts heating when the metal can temperature is 60°C in a room at 25°C, and the time required from the start of heating to the time when the metal can temperature goes down to 40°C is 30 minutes or more, and the metal can temperature does not exceeds 60°C while it lowers from 60°C to 40°C, and the metal can using the same is also provided. Preferably, exothermic amount is of≤60 cal per 1 g of the content of the metal can and oxidation reaction heat of iron is utilized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
