A pneumatic tyre 1 has a continuous bead to bead bias cut parallel-cord carcase ply 6 having its ends 61, 6<SP>11</SP> looped around the bead cores 4 and overlapped in the tread region a over the full width of the tread 2 to sandwich therebetween a tread reinforcing parallel-cord band 7 the cords of which extend parallel to those of the continuous bead to bead portion of the carcase ply 6. The tread reinforcing band 7 may be rubberized with, or embedded in, rubber of 8 to 20 Shore degrees harder than that associated with the carcase ply 6. |
