PURPOSE: An aligning apparatus is provided which is less defective so that the apparatus is applied to conditions requiring accurate position accuracy or receiving high heat, that is, nozzle change operation of tundish or ladle used in metal melting or casting, and an aligning method using the apparatus is provided. CONSTITUTION: In an alignment apparatus comprising wheels(21) which are movably mounted on a work deck(10), an arbitrary position aligning device(30) which is installed on a cart frame(20) laden on the wheels and a movable member which is dependent on the position aligning device to be moved, the apparatus for an aligning automated machine comprises a travelling cart(40) which is movably mounted on the cart frame; a link member(50) which is rotationally mounted on the body of the travelling cart and a moving block(60) which is connected to the link member to be ascended or descended to the center of the travelling cart according to angle of the link member; a robot arm(61) which is mounted on the moving block to transport the object to a concerned position by fingering an object; a target(70) which is mounted on a relative structure to control position of the moving block and travelling cart; and a position detecting part(80) which is mounted on the moving block to control and align position of the moving block by judging color of the target thereby utilizing the judged color of the target as position information.
