PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter for camera, which deters abrasion powder produced through the operation of a leading blade arranged in a imaging-surface side blade chamber from sticking on the imaging surface. SOLUTION: The leading blade arranged between an auxiliary base plate (2) and an intermediate plate (7) arranged on the imaging-surface side is such that two coupling shafts (21 etc.) each for pivoting blades (18 to 20) on arms (16 and 17) have their head parts brought into slide contact with the auxiliary base plate (2). A reinforcing plate (27) with an adhesive sheet (28) is fitted to the auxiliary base plate (2) while the adhesive surface of the adhesive sheet (28) is directed to the blade chamber so that a large through hole is closed. Consequently, although abrasion powder which is produced during exposing operation owing to the coupling shafts (21 etc.) and sticks on the circumference of the heads of the coupling shafts (21 etc.), nearly all the abrasion powder sticks on the adhesive sheet (28) even when scattering owing to a shock when stopped to suppress the amount of the powder flying onto an imaging surface.
