Modulated radio signals are transmitted between transceivers (T1,T2) of a vehicle base unit and mobile ID transmitter of passive entry systems. The carrier frequency of the radio signals is temporally varied, preferably within band limits, and synchronized among the transceivers. The carrier frequency may be varied synchronously and in phase.
