A pattern mechanism for selecting needle jocks having a sprung extension 4c and an associated presser 12, comprises means for pushing one end of the presser onto a temporary holding device and means for thereafter releasing selected pressers. The mechanism is applicable to flat or circular machines. In advance of each station of a multifeed circular machine the upper ends 12a of the pressers are forced by a cam against a permanent magnet 15. A blade 17 is vibrated between the poles of magnet 19 by means of a solenoid 20 at the dictates of pattern means. Selected pressers are forced away from the magnet by the end 17a of the blade permitting the extension to spring outwards. Butt 4d is thereby engaged by rise cam 8. The pattern means comprises multi-track pattern band passed over an internally illuminated drum and scaned by a series of photoelectric cells, one for each feed.</p> |
